One of the most amazing things for me is that despite the doom and gloom of every single news broadcast, the brexit shambles heading to nothing being in place by the deadline etc. my share portfolio has not taken the nose dive I feared. Admittedly, if I’d not taken out a large chunk to lend to my daughter, my funds would look better but they haven’t dropped massively. they just haven’t made up any ground since February. They’ve just wavered slightly up one week to slightly down the next. The Bank of England has handed out very negative messages about poor financial outlook if we don’t do this or that, but in reality, the base line figures have been much more solid and the anticpated exodus of financial entities out of London has not actually happened. Some astute firms have beefed up existing overseas outposts just in case, but London still reigns supreme as the money capital.
